9000 series features
The 9000 series, also known as the "tricolor series", is made up of 28 packs of dimensions 11.5 x 8.5 x 2 cm, containing subjects in HO scale, with catalog numbers from 9001 to 9028. The 9000 series was produced, from April 1971 to 1973, in a first graphic version, called the first edition, including the catalog numbers from 9001 to 9015, with the exception of the packaging 9013 (which despite the consecutive numbering is produced subsequently in 1974), whose main characteristics can be summarized as follows:
-
number of pieces contained shown on the front of the packaging The first packs of this edition contained within them a voucher to win a speedboat. Subsequently, from January 1974, the 9000 series was produced in a second graphic format, called the second edition, including all the catalog numbers from 9001 to 90028, whose main characteristics can be summarized as follows:
- the number of
pieces contained is no longer indicated on the front of the packaging
packs of the 600 series for the first 16 packs. 9017 to 9026 while for packaging 9027 the list includes the first 27 and only in packaging 9028 is the list of all 28 packs of the same series. In the short period of transition from the first to the second edition, some of the first 15 packs were placed on the market without the L.100 price printed on the left side edge, also known as "white wing" Furthermore, in the same period, some packs with the graphics of the second edition but with the back of the first edition were placed on the market, effectively creating what can be defined as an "intermediate edition". Of 26 of the 28 packs of the 9000 series (packs 9003 and 9005 are not included) a "french edition" was also produced, specially made for the French market, marketed in a first edition including packs up to 9015 probably in 1973 and subsequently, probably in conjunction with the marketing in Italy, in a second version including all 26 packs. Characteristics of this edition are the different illustrations on the front of the packs, except for the 4 relating to the great revolutions, the captions in French and the number of pieces contained which in some cases does not correspond to that reported in Italian marketing. |
